Antigua & Barbuda Reopens Citizenship for Ukrainians

In a recent development, the Cabinet of Antigua and Barbuda has made an important decision regarding the processing of applications from Ukrainian nationals under their Citizenship by Investment program. Following a meeting held on March 6th, 2024, the Cabinet has announced the reconsideration of the policy decision to suspend the processing of such applications.

Effective immediately, the Citizenship by Investment Unit (CIU) will resume receiving and processing applications from Ukrainian citizens.

The announcement stats that “it is crucial to note that agents facilitating these applications are reminded of their responsibility to conduct thorough due diligence. They are required to ensure that applicants have no affiliation with sanctioned entities or individuals, as part of maintaining the program’s integrity”.

This decision marks a significant step towards restoring opportunities for Ukrainian nationals seeking citizenship through investment in Antigua and Barbuda. The resumption of processing underscores the nation’s commitment to providing access to its Citizenship by Investment program while maintaining stringent standards of diligence and compliance.
