Dominica embassy was officially open yesterday (January 22, 2020) in the capital, Abu Dhabi, inaugurated by Dominica’s Prime Minister, Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by H.E. Eng. Suhail Al Mazrouei, UAE Minister of Energy and Industry; Saeed Al Qamzi, Director of the Visits Affairs Department at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Hubert Charles, Dominica’s Ambassador to the UAE, Emmanuel Nanthan, Head of Dominica’s Citizenship by Investment Unit, embassy staff, and a number of members of the diplomatic corps accredited to the country.
Many Middle Eastern investors have become economic citizens of Dominica in recent years, with demand continuing to be on the rise. As a result of that, last summer, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit announced the opening of Dominica’s embassy in the UAE. “High demand and interest from the UAE significantly contributed to the UAE-Dominica bilateral relations, which lead the Dominican government to establish a Dominica Embassy in Abu Dhabi and a Dominica embassy Consulate General in Dubai,” said Prime Minister Skerrit. 
The opening of Dominica embassy in the UAE is a big milestone for the country, as it is the first Dominican diplomatic mission to the Middle East. Ambassador Charles will represent the interests of Dominican citizens residing in the UAE and neighboring countries.
As mentioned by Dr. Skerrit, the opening of the embassy affirms the importance of enhancing Dominica’s diplomatic representation in the UAE and developing ties between the two countries. Dr. Skerrit also praised the UAE’s role in assisting Caribbean nations with projects that contribute to achieving sustainable development.
